Am I sick or relatable
Animal or criminal
If sainthood's a fairytale
Does that make me justifiable
I'm here
I'm pliable
Ready for Christ to speak
But only where it's audible
For him to say I'm understandable
Not terrible
Go on
You're fine
You're not the one liable
I'm calm
I'm low
And it's all been survivable
It's possible
I'm valuable

Develop Too
The mornings are fine.
I can wake contently,
perhaps with relief
for the strength to do
one more day. I can push
those dreams into
their space, unheard again.
The mornings are fine.
I drink coffee ardently,
perhaps in search of
a new idea or potential
interpretation,
or an interpretation of
potential.
The evenings are hard,
sitting by that window
looking over and over again
out into the stillness.
It's the silence when
you hear the loudness
of unrequited hopefulness.
The evenings are hard.
I sip bourbon slow,
wondering why
I like the sting. Knowing
myself too much, I try
to reestablish
what I know,
who I know.

Sit.
found. You are
never in control
of how high the moon
has been. Nature is and
will come at last
and too soon.

Nathan
We sat
together reminiscing the fire,
sitting in the smoke. You could die
never looking into the dark forrest
beyond your feet. But don't go
caring about the blackness. It's heavy,
living up against the unknown, but listen,
I haven't seen God since they told me how
he looked exactly. You write your own way
to heaven. Do you know how you'll get
peace in a world of fortune telling? Give
it free of anticipation. And look for
it with rich adoration and independence.
Independence, crucial independence.

Cadence
You're holding on to unfinished starts
The fairytale is compromised
The fairytale is compromise
Don't value prospect and future
We all blush at a well dressed suitor
All we are is how we can behave
And they'll speak on this just at the grave
Don't be wary of the ending

Acknowledge
Standing in your madness
Having no other words to say
But that I appreciate your sadness
That I realize what that is
I see you
You're cutting at your hair
It's anger you keep sending out
But on the inside it's just fear
I'm near
I see you
And everything you've been
No need to apply your face
I'm in awe of just your skin
It's not too late to look around
To understand and win
I see you
